The Steelers defeated the Cowboys by the score of 21-17 to win their second consecutive Super Bowl. They are the third team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since Miami Dolphins in Super Bowls VII and VIII, and the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowls I and II. The game was played at the Orange Bowl[2] in Miami, Florida, on January 18, 1976, one of the first major national events of the United States Bicentennial year. Both the pre-game and halftime show celebrated the Bicentennial, while players on both teams wore special patches on their jerseys with the Bicentennial logo. Super Bowl X featured a contrast of styles between the Steelers and the Cowboys, which were, at the time, the two most popular teams in the league. Pittsburgh, who dominated teams with their "Steel Curtain" defense and running game, finished the regular season with a league best 12-2 record and defeated the Baltimore Colts and the Oakland Raiders in the playoffs.
